Broken sphere

The sculpture comprises a parallelepiped base or pedestal and, on top, there is a broken sphere, disintegrating. The work has been completely created in corten steel, one of the author”s materials of choice. This is a piece which plays with the sections of a sphere to create different spaces. The perfect geometric form of the sphere has always attracted sculptors and investigators. And the obsession with some, including Aizkorbe, is to open up this closed and solid space of the sphere. In short, the central idea is to break the sphere, to open it up and discover its interior world, to project its sections outwards in search of other surrounding spaces, to investigate the spaces, movements and gaps, through the decomposition of the sphere. Aizkorbe”s works of sculpture always come within abstraction, he is moreover one of the first Navarre sculptors to investigate further into these complex aesthetic modes. He enjoys working with geometrizing forms, which seek spaces, dynamic and winged forms, floating articulations, as he enjoys defining many of these forms.
