The sculpture stands on a two-step granite base and a Colmenar stone pedestal bearing the inscription: «Navarre to the Duke of Ahumada. 1803-1869». The bronze bust of the founder of the Civil Guard is the last work by Orduna before his death in 1973. The unveiling of the monument to the Duke of AHumada, funded by the Regional Government of Navarre, took place within the ceremony of homage to the Civil Guard held in Pamplona on the 17th December 1969, on the occasion of the First Centenary since the death of its founder. Francisco Javier Girón y Ezpeleta, the Duke of Ahumada and Marques of Las Amarillas, was born in Pamplona in 1803, to one of the most important noble families in the city.
